Come See the Future at MSO
Did you know Missoula International Airport is one of the busiest airports in Montana, handling over half a million passengers in 2005? By the year 2015, the number of travellers passing through the airport’s gates is expected to double to almost one million passengers per year.
In order to continue providing our passengers with an unsurpassed level of service, the airport has embarked on a five-year $38 million Capital Improvement Plan designed to maintain safety and to meet the needs of air travelers and air carriers well into the 21st Century, and to continue to develop the airport as a premier gateway and economic generator for the City of Missoula. For more information, please download our Five Year Capital Improvement Plan.

What Development is being recommended for MSO?
Missoula International Airport embarked upon an ambitious expansion program designed to meet the needs of Missoula's increasing passenger numbers. The development program, designed to keep the airport's capacity ahead of growth projections, includes the construction of a new air traffic control tower, additional passenger loading bridges, and more convenient parking options.

How will MSO Change through 2015? Passenger Projections
Passenger activity at Missoula International Airport was forecast considering historical passenger levels. Over the 20-year period covered by the master plan, it is expected that passenger levels will nearly double to up to 439,000 passenger enplanements per year, or about 880,000 total passengers.
Aircraft Operations Projections
Aircraft operations, or the number of takeoffs and landings, include air carriers, air cargo operations, general aviation and military flights, are expected to double between 1995 and 2015 to 107,200 operations per year.
Aircraft Fleet Mix Projections
Older aircraft are currently being replaced with quieter and more efficient aircraft. As a result, MSO can continue to see increasing numbers of Boeing 737's, MD80 series aircraft, the Airbus A319/320, the Boeing 757, and regional jets. General aviation will see larger private aircraft such as the Boeing Business Jet, the Gulfstream V, and the Falcon 900/2000.
