The Missoula International Airport Public Safety Department was commissioned in 1985 and combines the emergency response capabilities of Fire Protection, Security and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). These dedicated professionals maintain training for all three roles to ensure the safety of the airlines, airport businesses and travelers.
Missoula's Public Safety Department consists of offices within the terminal complex, and one emergency response station located within the Public Safety Building on the Airport's northwest side. A second satellite station was recently completed next to the air carrier ramp. These two stations will enable Fire Rescue personnel to quickly respond to any emergency situation. Public Safety's responsibilities include Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, Structural Fire Protection, Emergency Medical Services, fire prevention, and inspections of the Airport's runways, taxiways and lighting systems.
The Emergency Medical Services provided by Public Safety also includes Automated External Defibrilators. This technology has allowed our Fire Rescue Department to maintain the highest level of survivability for heart attack victims.
