MONTANA ARTIST SERIES
Missoula International Airport's MONTANA ARTIST SERIES is dedicated to the work of individuals who have made a significant contribution to the arts in Montana or who live and work in Montana.
Our second Series artist is Harry Koyama, a native Montanan, who clearly qualifies in both categories.
Born and raised on a farm in Hardin, MT in 1949, Koyama began his formal art studies at Montana State University in Billings. Koyama received his B.A. with an Extended Art Major in 1972. Since that time, Koyama's award-winning art work has been widely exhibited and collected extensively. His steel sculptures have twice been honored with the Harry Jackson Award for Sculpture.
A full time painter, Koyama has concentrated on immortalizing subjects of the American West in his signature impressionist style. He utilizes his incredible passion to create powerful paintings through the use of the painting knife along with a bold color scheme.
"Art is most powerful when rendered through the power of suggestion." - Harry Koyama
Beautiful and powerful, Koyama's art can be viewed in the Main Lobby of the Airport Terminal.
The art is available for purchase at the Airport.
